Our signature dish the 'Ochazuke' is a traditional Japanese dish that has been enjoyed for centuries, known for its comforting and warm qualities. At CHIAKI, Chef Mo Zhou (from Gaea) has taken this classic dish and added our own modern twist, elevating it to new heights of simplicity.

A bit pricey for small bites food. The tempura is more like fritters rather than traditional Japanese tempura. Ochazuke was alright, nothing special. Overall dining experience was ok - the food wasn't amazing. Good to try

The inflation is really making it difficult for restaurants to survive nowadays. The food was good but it’s not easy to go out and have a simple and valuable meal whenever we feel like it anymore. This lovely place is definitely more for special occasions. We might try their brunch / bentos during lunch service next time.

Thank you to the lone waiter who did a wonderful job looking after the whole room of diners. Food was exceptional, delicious flavours that I could eat all day! Warming during these cold months. Thank you Chiaki

Go here as a lunch spot often and always love it, went last night for dinner as we’d been wanting to try dinner menu for awhile and we were celebrating. Food was amazing as always, place was quite busy but the best part was our server and other staff. server was obviously really busy as she was handling the whole floor on her own and despite delays she was so attentive, took that extra bit of time when she was at her table to make sure we were looked after. she was wonderful - she apologized for all the delays afterwards but there was no need. it was a lovely experience and i really appreciate how the staff handled such a busy night. thank you for the wonderful experience!

The food we ordered were all absolutely delicious. The umeshu was also such a delight. I cannot wait to return and try more of Chiaki's dishes. Maybe dessert too :).

Squid ochazuke is outstanding, a warm bowl of soul and one of our favourite dishes in Melbourne. Staff are always kind and wonderful. Just one thing: could you please add more than two desserts to the menu as we we would like to try more?

Friendly service and nice cocktails. Had the tasting menu which was okay but nothing too exciting or fantastic. The overall menu didn't feel like it worked together. Best unique dish was the Whipped tofu
