Welcome to Cafe la Vie located inside the Le Meridien Hotel in Clayton!

Indulge yourself in the wonderous French European style cuisine created by our amazing team of culinary artists or a signature cocktail poured by our talented bartenders. Our spacious 7,400 sq. foot restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, Sparkling Hour (our version of happy hour) and dinner in the heart of downtown Clayton.

    Great menu for Valentine's Day. Good service and food, although some items were a little pricy.

    First and last time going. Very poor service. Was seated 15 minutes and no water no waiter. Then a couple got seated next to us and immediately was served water by girl who walked past our table numerous times and waitress immediately appeared at their table and still no acknowledgement of us. Asked for manager at front table and hostess said she could not leave her post. Ended up walking out. Received a call 17 minutes later from manager who tried to make situation right but at that point was not returning.

    Valentine's Day was a fixed menu - two entrees, two appetizers, two desserts options. They offered a lovely "palate cleanser" between the apps and the entree -- nice touch. They also offered us "free" champagne as we entered -- another nice touch. (I say "free" because it's a fixed price so I'm sure it was covered in there but, still, a lovely way to be greeted.) Our server was friendly, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. Parking was free (validated when we paid our bill) and convenient. We will definitely be back.

    We went for Clayton restaurant week and had a pretty bad experience. First off, ordering the same items off the actual menu was about $10 cheaper for one of the options than doing the Clayton restaurant week and the other two options were not deals at all. We got there around 5:30pm and didn't leave until 7:45 with how long the food came to come out. I got the steak frites and the steak was served blue. The table behind us arrived at the same time and was just getting their food as we were leaving. This was after they checked in on their food with the manager 45 minutes earlier. Disappointing because the ambience was great, would maybe go back to their bar but never for food again.

    Fully out-met my expectations! Food was delicious - salads, tartine, sandwiches, entrees, and drinks - yum! The menu was varied, making it hard to decide. Our server was absolutely lovely, and you could tell she loved working there. Heading back soon!

    We took our daughter out to celebrate her birthday, and she left in tears from disappointment. She ordered the steak with their signature steak sauce. The steak came out and was a charred piece of meat on a plate with no sauce. We had to call the server back to ask about the sauce. He came back with a bottle of A1 because the kitchen said, "They were out of the signature sauce." Tell me why they wouldn't tell someone prior to serving that they weren't going to get what they ordered? She ordered a new dish but couldn't even eat it because she was so upset. I don't mind spending a little more for good quality food. I do not feel what we got was worth the exuberant price we paid. The server was attentive and apologetic, but our disappointment didn't phase him.
