We’re a casual and cozy restaurant serving up Asian small plates—from fun improvisations on that theme to faithful renditions of classic dishes that we love. We love the name “bonito” because it’s both the Spanish word for “beautiful” and the name of one of the most important fish in Japanese cuisine. Thus, it’s the perfect name for a restaurant that seeks to explore the shared traits in the cuisines of Vallarta and Vietnam, delving into our mutual love for funk, citrusy brightness, and carefully calibrated spice.

This location is in Zona Romántica right next to the beautiful 200-year-old Banyan Tree. Comfortable air-conditioned dining room and a gorgeous outdoor garden provide the perfect setting for all occasions.

Our most popular items are ramen, pho, pork belly bao, soft-shell crab bao, coconut shrimp rolls, summer rolls, green papaya salad, potstickers, lobster dumplings, pork belly dumplings, teriyaki salmon, Korean BBQ beef, and green curry.

Amazing mix of Asian cuisines in a great location. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was very serene. Highly recommend and check out their new Sake lounge.

Food was good as usual, but the quality of service had declined since my last visit. There was no pause between the appetizers arriving and the main course following. Some on the table were waiting for their appetizers, others had taken a bite or two, and the main dishes started arriving with no room on the table. When asked the waiter why the rush when half the restaurant was empty, the waiter shrugged and said that's how they deliver food to the table. The noise level rose when a concert started in Cassitta and Garden, rendering everyone unable to have any conversation.

This is a lovely surprise in el centro. Beautiful designed and crafted Asian dishes. The standouts for me are the gyoza, tuna tostada and Korean short ribs. Everything is impressive.

Loved everything about our experience here. Food was interesting and delicious, plus there was an abundance of healthy options, which we always want. Service was great. The owner came around to see how everyone was enjoying. The outdoor patio is so charming. Loved it.

Second time here in 3 weeks - amazing find with a great menu of Indian and Asian flavors! Had the Saigon chicken rolls which were perfect - not too greasy and cooked perfectly, great flavors ! My wife had the cauliflower popcorn , again perfectly seasoned! My entree was the butter chicken which was not only authentic but perfectly cooked and spiced( had in India multiple times) My wife had the vegetarian green curry , delicious. All the staff are great - genuine and know the menu ! The frozen cheesecake I could take or leave - personally I’d prefer it out of the freezer like a normal cheesecake . The cocktails are well made and the rose and white wine nicely chilled . Give it a try it’s well worth it

What a great find - A great menu featuring Indian - Vietnamese- Japanese styles. We had the Samosas beef and vegetable, both delicious! My wife had the vegetarian yellow curry and loved it ! I had the same with chicken and loved it , lots of flavors and spices . We had the house Sauvignon Blanc which was just ok but pricey for what it was. The servers were all outstanding- friendly and patient as we are learning Spanish and wanted to test our new skills - they helped us !! All in all a great experience! Would 100% recommend this place !

Unbelievably good!!! The food was fantastic and a nice break from all the great Mexican we had been eating on your trip. The short ribs are soooo tender and flavorful, portion are on the large size. Don’t pass on one of the boas, the soft shelled crab one is AMAZING. The house made lemonades are fabulous and sooo refreshing, taste like the fruit they put in not overly sweet. The service was sooo on top of everything and our food came out as it was made making it every wonderful. Try this spot out your won’t regret it.
