We've been dying to try Blue Island for quite some time now, and the food did not disappoint. Loved the big clam cake that came with the clam chowder & the lobster rolls were overflowing with lobster. The service unfortunately wasn't the best. We had a reservation and arrived right on time only to be told we'd have to wait. Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal, but there were MULTIPLE open, clean tables, and it wasn't busy, so I don't understand why we had to wait. It didn't get much better after we were seated, either. It took our server 10 minutes to come take our drink orders, which took a while to come out.Then our entrees came out before our appetizers & it took the expo realizing the mistake because our server never bothered checking on us. If it weren't for the food being so tasty, I'm not sure I'd go back

When you eat a restaurant, your main contact is your waiter. When the waiter has a dismissive and disinterested attitude, you can’t help but not like the restaurant as much as you could have. Even though the food was good and we’ve had great experiences before, last night was mediocre. it said on the menu if you don’t find the drink you want tell the bartender how you like it, we were told that the bartender is a Primadonna and doesn’t do that. At the end of the meal, the check was put on the table without even asking about the dessert or after dinner drinks. I couldn’t wait to get out of there as much as the waitress obviously wanted us out of there. I still gave a very generous tip because I understand these people work like this for a living on tips. I am very unlikely to return to this restaurant when there are so many other great dining options in the area.

Food is fabulous, but wish they had at least one vegetarian entree available. Our server was nice but distracted and my husband sat with an empty drink while he passed by twice. You can hear yourself talk, but it’s a bustling location with no barriers, so you hear all chatter. There was a table of boisterous women filling the place with noise. Hightop chairs could be more comfortable/sturdy. Definitely overpriced (eg $40+ for 4 scallops) but it’s Cherry Creek, so it is to be expected.
