When it comes to food, Christmas day often proves to be a battle of the senses. From the traditional smoked salmon or a stomach-lining bacon sandwich to the main event when we devour piles of roast meats, stuffed birds, pimped-up greens and crispy roasties, we rarely go hungry! But as joyful as a festive feast can be, the question we often ask ourselves: what wine should we drink? Enjoy our liquid recommendations for every part of the day – from morning bubbles through to evening Port.

Come and enjoy a fun and interactive session with one of our senior chefs who will show you just how easy it is to prepare mouth-watering tasty micro-morsels and how to prepare the perfect Christmas roast dinner! Learn a variety of easy to make delicious canapés to impress your friends and family at Christmas before preparing a roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings. If you worry about the pressures of getting it right on the big day, or just want to perfect your culinary skills, this is the ideal practice run for you! Each student will have their own work station, equipment and ingredients to work with.

Roll up your sleeves and get stuck into our brand-new event of festive artisan bread-making! Proper bread should be made from just flour, water, yeast and salt – and nothing else! Guided by our master baker, you’ll craft up to four Christmas loaves, both savoury and sweet. You’ll leave with not only a bag full of freshly baked goodies but also a new-found love for home-made bread that will make shop-bought a thing of the past.  In addition, festive demos will include a Rye Bread made with winter ale from Blackfriars’ very own brewery, a ciabatta with a merry twist, and tips on using roasted vegetable leftovers for the Boxing Day buffet table. You’ll also work on a special centrepiece for a festive get together with friends.
