Whether you’ve just completed one of the city’s spooky walking tours or indulged in retail therapy along the medieval Shambles shopping street, Bill’s is the perfect stop.     Made very welcome on arrival. Was given time to peruse the extensive menu after our drink order had been taken. Two of our party had the Big Breakfast and it lived up to its name as well as being beautifully presented and well cooked. The other member had a vegetarian option and he enjoyed his meal too. No need for a dessert though the coffees were well received. Thank you to all concerned.

    Good, varied menu; run out of a main course option by 7:15; steak not grilled to order. Staff very friendly and compensated for steak. Overall, excellent meal out with family

    Food was great and the service was excellent. The table was ready on arrival and drinks were quickly ordered and brought across. Great kid menu and the gluten free options were inclusive. All in all, an excellent experience

    We were seated in a really poor position, it felt like sitting on a runway. Really small table too. My water glass was dirty, as was my knife - fortunately I swapped with my husband who wasn’t using his. My ceaser salad was very basic, no real flavour. My husband enjoyed his burger and fries. Just found it really underwhelming. Also don’t like having to sell my soul to use the guest WiFi. Paid using the QR code at the table, added a small tip, but then after payment was made I looked at the receipt and saw that the 12.5% opt out service charge was already added - but this wasn’t made clear at all, so we actually double tipped… which the service certainly didn’t warrant. Wouldn’t bother returning.

    It was York Restaurant Week when we were there, the menus of three courses was outstanding value at £15.
