Beeside Balcony is a hidden gem in old Del Mar, CA with a relaxed seaside chic décor where guests enjoy global mediterranean cuisine and ocean views from the covered outside balcony.

A third generation chef of Spanish and Italian descent, and hailing form Paris, France, Christophe's restaurant career began at 17 in the kitchen of his father's restaurant in Pasadena when they first emigrated to the USA. Upon returning to southern California in 2011, Christophe spent 8 years as the managing partner of Eddie V's Prime Seafood in La Jolla. Here he deepened his knowledge of sourcing and cooking the freshest seafood available, while delivering world class service. The laid back coastal vibe of Del Mar, combined with the attention to detail from Christophe's fine dining background, infuses Beeside Balcony with an easy elegance that elevates any gathering, and makes the perfect backdrop to showcase his global mediterranean menu.

Incredibly disappointing experience. Our server, Kip, let us know that today was his first dinner service, and it definitely showed. I do believe he's new to service industry in general, based on his demeanor. For one of our entrees, we ordered the Denver steak, medium rare. Not only was it overcooked, but it was incredibly chewy and very tough on the mouth. I only took 2 bites (one cut from the end, one from the middle) and called him over. Said I was unhappy with the steak altogether and would not be eating it as he could clearly see based off my plate. He did not apologize, did not ask me if I would like to order another entree in it's place, did not offer to comp any part of the steak, either entirely or half the amount, just ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. At least my date was apologetic, not to mention embarrassed to have brought me here. We asked for the check and went downstairs to enjoy Mezcal Margaritas and Tacos instead, and the vibe and food there helped make up for the miserable service and food at Beeside Balcony.

First time disappointed. Chairs are uncomfortable. My steak was underdone and the frenchfries will not warm. The steak was somewhat tough, however, the marinade was excellent. Service was efficient but not all that friendly.

Booked a nice Valentine’s Day dinner with my mother and wife. I got a nice view of the sunset with the waves crashing enjoying my delicious scallop dinner. Idk how much better it could get. Miranda was an excellent server.

Four old friends out to Beeside Balcony for the first time. Our waitress, Christina, was great and we shared delicious appetizers mussels, dips with great pita bread and a salmon ap. Three of us had barramundi and fourth had lamb chop. It was a great table with a view and we enjoyed a very leisurely dinner without feeling rushed! Kudos to the entire staff!

Varied menu with brunch and lunch items. Salads, sandwiches such as fried chicken with siracha sauce, very well prepared fries. Nice ambiance on the terrace. Friendly service. Very pleasant lunch in Del Mar.

We selected Beeside for my birthday for a first time experience. When making reservation, I was asked if we wanted a hightop or regular. I selected regular. When checking in, we were told I had agreed to a table outside in the entry, which I didn't. We stood for awhile and then asked if we could sit at the hightop near desk because it was getting chilly outside and restaurant is completely open air. The hostess agreed we could have the table. Then we discovered that a very noisy table of about 20 8-10 year olds were next to us. They were rowdy, screaming and running around. We ordered an appetizer and then waited forever for our entrees. Finally we decided to take our food home to eat in a quiet setting. We were very surprised that the restaurant would book a large group of kids on a Saturday night. The hostess and server apologized for the crazy night. The restaurant was extremely busy and I watched as plates came out from the kitchen and sat on the serving counter for 15 minutes before taken to tables. Cold food is a big No No in the restaurant business. Our fries were cold, meatball and crab cake appetizers were OK but not delicious. The salmon was OK and ossobucco was delicious. Needless to say, we were very disappointed.
