'Avanti Bistro is a great place to visit with friends, family or colleagues for breakfast, lunch and dinner or a chat over coffee and cake.' We are an independant family bistro & cafe offering a selection of British and Italian dishes.

Situated in the historic town of Windsor and only a walk-away from Windsor Castle, The River Thames, the Theatre Royal and Eton we are the perfect stop-off.

Our aim is simple. "To serve good food, offer value for money and provide a great service", in relaxed surroundings.

This always looks busy at lunch time however we went on a Friday evening and it was very quiet. The food wasn’t great, the garlic bread had definitely been microwaved, as had my pasta dish. The pizza was at least freshly cooked but the toppings were dry. The service was very quick but made us feel very rushed, the minute i finished they took my plate, despite the fact my partner was still eating! When she took our starter plates we were asked if we wanted our mains now or wanted a break. On the assumption that our food would be cooked fresh we said now expecting a 10 minute wait or so but she brought it out within 30 seconds. We were in and out in about 40 minutes having had a drink, starter and a main each. Not the relaxed and fresh meal we were hoping for! As I said, it’s always busy in the day so maybe the food and service is better then but I would definitely not recommend for dinner.

Terrible food, seemed like it was microwaved and could even hear it beeping. Had to return the garlic bread as it was cold. Will never be returning. Laughable that you call this an Italian restaurant.

Very good food, friendly and attentive service. We visited on a Friday evening, and enjoyed the excellent live music. It was a pity that the restaurant was virtually empty, as the ambience would have been much better if it was full. Would recommend highly, hopefully better advertising and marketing will lead to increase in numbers - the restaurant is good and deserves to succeed.

Friday night close to Christmas. It was very quiet, which made for a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were attentive but not fussy. The food was lovely and flavourful, with decent sized portions.

We were visiting Windsor & found this restaurant on the internet. It was Friday night & when we got there we were the only ones there & that’s how it stayed for the whole evening! Saying that the staff & food were great.

The food was very uninspiring. Our starter sharing plate arrived with 3 minute strips of pitta bread for the dips - 1 each. We had to ask for more and a big bowl was dumped on the table. The owner was a strange character and quite miserable. My pizza was almost inedible as the base was rock hard and extremely dry. My friend said her pasta was not freshly cooked and not at all good. On this basis I would definitely not return or recommend.

This restaurant is closed for refurbishment. However a booking from opentable was taken. We turned up to find this out. Appalling that they were on OpenTable. We had to walk around and find somewhere else to eat.

I booked this as part of a hen weekend itinerary and we had a lady who required a gluten-free breakfast, the breakfast was amazing and a great choice for all tastes and it was so good we went back the next morning for another breakfast before we headed home. They catered perfectly for our friend who required a gluten free breakfast. Would recommend this place highly and we will certainly use again when we are next in Windsor.....thank you so much for making it perfect for our group!!
