The Standard, an American Bistro Style Restaurant and Bar, located in the American Hotel right at the heart of Downtown Freehold. Open everyday for lunch and dinner until 9:00 pm, and offering an a la carte brunch on Sundays.

The contemporary menu offers a tantalizing variety featuring steaks, seafood and bistro-style dishes. Enjoy our upscale menu with friends while sipping on one our specially crafted cocktails.

Happy Hour is offered at the bar 7 days a week from 3:00-6:00. Additionally, we are now offering half priced bottles of wine every Wednesday and Sunday.

Please note that all reservations are for Indoor Dining only. Outdoor dining is purely first come, first serve. However, if you have a reservation, and there is an outside table available at the time of your arrival, you will be welcomed to it.

The newly renovated American Hotel brings back the old world charm and ambiance of Freehold's long standing social centerpiece. Originally built in 1824 as a stagecoach stop, the hotel grew as did the needs of Monmouth County. But, after 180 years of making memories, the facilities were in need of a total make-over. Food was good but could be better, filet kebab special was undercooked, but they cooked it more upon request. The orchiaetta pasta dish, had maybe 3 small pieces of sausage, and it was very, very salty, kind of dissatisfied with this dish. Shrimp and grits were good.

Our server Kaly was great and we really appreciated that the manager was so accessible and stops at every table. Wonderful dining experience, however live music on Sat night was a little loud.

We were married at the American Hotel, and we come back every year on our anniversary to celebrate. For the past 9 years, the meal has yet to disappoint. Always a good time and good food

Highly recommend!! Everything is fantastic - the food, the cocktails, the service… Their reservation times are accurate and our table was ready a few minutes before our time. The bartenders were busy, and still extremely quick to grab and make my order so we could have a drink while waiting. Our server started the table with bread and water as soon as we sat down. All of our food was delicious from start to finish. The manger was super nice when he checked on us, and we really enjoyed our dinner there overall!

The ambience is great , service is good. Mimosas are tasty but overall the food is not great it’s good but seems tasteless. Overall for a quick brunch it’s not bad!
