   Great cocktails (espresso martini & French quarter) two amazing drinks plus the entertainment is fantastic. Ordered Brussel sprouts so yummy and huge portion.

   Wonderful evening. Ignor and Kate provided beautiful music while we were served delicious food! Highly recommend.

   This was our first time to Alvin’s. We’d heard good things from a few people and had high expectations, as we usually do when we dine out. Our experience was mixed and almost didn’t happen because we contemplated leaving before it got going. We arrived on time for our reservation. The waiting area was packed and we were told to go sit there as the tables weren’t ready. Fine. We sat on the far side of the waiting area, because again, the waiting area was packed. We watched as table after table was seated and yet we waited. We contemplated saying something, but didn’t want to seem rude, and assumed the concierge knew what he was doing. 20 minutes later, he spotted us still waiting and came to seat us, saying “the tables are now all ready. Follow me”. We were offered two different bar tables, despite asking for standard seating in our reservation. Neither table was great but we sat anyway. There was no acknowledgment of our wait, no apology. Nothing. Our server came and offered us water — but a glass was missing. I thought the tables were all ready? She did her very best to make up for the start of our experience by bringing us our first drinks on the house (except mine came red instead of white— oh well, still tasty). After we settled and tried to shake off the start, the night began to improve but what never happened— any sort of apology from the one person who was responsible for the start of our bad experience. That would have saved the night. Humility. The food was excellent— well done, Chef; our server was lovely; the musicians were talented, albeit so loud a conversation was not possible. Perhaps had we been seated at a standard table… oh wait. We vowed to give Alvin’s one more try. That is solely because of the food and our desire to hear jazz vs. blues. The night, our anniversary, almost didn’t happen because of the first human we encountered, but Alvin’s pulled it off and it ended well. One more shot to get it right from start to finish.

   I’d like to preface this review by saying , my husband and I booked this evening a couple of weeks in advance for a special event we were celebrating. We were excited for a night out and to enjoy some live music. With a 20$ cover charge for music, we felt the cost was reasonable for a night out, alongside dinner. As soon as we sat at our table, we were told we had two hours, before losing our table. We arrived at 6pm, and the music started at 7pm. Therefore, we had one hour to enjoy the music, before we were told we’d have to leave. Would have been nice to know that beforehand and have it posted on their site or open table during booking. Nevertheless… We started with the scallops and beef and bone marrow tartare. The beef and bone marrow tartare was really great. Little bit of spice which was excellent. With the richness of the marrow, would have preferred to not have kettle cut chips with it, as the dish leaned into being a little oily. The 25$ scallop entree left a lot of be desired. There were three scallops, all of the three were undercooked and stringy, alongside burnt pork belly which was inedible. The parsnip puree alongside was pleasant. My husband ordered the salmon, which he enjoyed. I ordered the 63$ striploin, asking for a medium rare cook. The steak arrived blue rare. Inedible. Our server gladly took it away and had it re-fired to a proper cook. It came back to the table, nicely presented. Great cook the second time around, though quite underseasoned. The jus somewhat made up for it with some flavor and acidity. Garlic mash was smooth and great. Our server really didn’t seem bothered to offer comping a dessert or even a drink (I had a glass of wine and my husband non alcoholic beer). Would have been nice, especially at that price point. Finished with the espresso tiramisu. Our three courses took us until 8pm, at which time, we were told to pay our bill. We were not given the option to have another drink etc, and they quickly cleared the table

   Start to finish it is always a fun night at Alvin’s. Delicious food, cool tunes, and a fun vibe!

   I came here for my birthday and I was nothing but impressed! The ambience is amazing and super cool! The staff were super nice. The music was fun and there was a dance floor! The food and drinks were both very good and tasty. It is a little more expensive so I would recommend going for appetizers and drinks later in the evening. Super cool and fun experience, and a good excuse to dress up and try something new. Definitely recommend going!

   Alvins is a dining and live music venue. Well stocked bar here. Fancy cocktails and some good wines. Promoted as a jazz club, expect to hear a loose variety of relaxed jazz, R&B, soul, and Motown performances. A small but lively dance floor. Menu is uptown and a bit pricey, having some interesting offers of quality and creativity. They do two evening dinner & show seatings. Take the 8:30, but know the room shuts down around 10:30. The stage is partially obscured from some seats by a post, so ask to have a good frontal view of the stage when making reservations. Service here is top-notch except for wine decanting and pouring.

   Such an amazing time celebrating my husbands birthday. The staff was awesome food was delicious & atmosphere was phenomenal. The jazz band even called up the people who were celebrating a birthday to the stage and sung them happy birthday. Overall, an awesome night & we will definitely be back!!

   We really enjoyed our first experience at Alvin’s Jazz club! Service was great, food was delicious and the music was fantastic. We will be back again!

    Amazing experience and entertainment! Not sure if the server or kitchen missed half our food order, and then when we asked for a to-go box, the server took our food to the back and we never received our left overs which was more than half the dish…
