We are a family owned business located in the centre of York by the River Ouse. Our bar and bistro has gained a reputation for a wide range of beers and spirits coupled with an excellent selection of wines and champagnes. Close to The Grand Opera House and city centre, Plonkers is an ideal place to meet with friends or colleagues for a relaxed drink.
Weekends at Plonkers can have a party atmosphere where you can relax after work with friends. Upstairs seats approximately 26 but we can cater for buffets for around 40 people with some standing.
We now have our outside riverside area, where we serve food and drinks 10am – 9pm weather permitting.

Please note that although Open Table appears to let you book downstairs or upstairs, this is a glitch with open table, and whilst we will do our best to accommodate requests, no specific tables can be booked as its down to phasing on the day,

A great place, service, staff and food was excellent. I had steak pie and my wife had the chicken kebab. Great portion sizes and we tried a few drinks , so somewhere we would definitely recommend and re visit.

Nice environment away from busy clubs and the more rowdy night scene. Good selection of drinks to choose from and good value cocktails. Staff were friendly and professional giving a good, speedy service. The food was a big let down. Quite greasy and excessively large portions. The cost of 2x cocktails, one cider and two main meals was £70 (inc. a 10% gratuity to the serving staff). This was far above the price we paid for a similar meal in the local area and of a far lower quality. For a lovely bar with good staff and an exciting range of drinks, the food and steep price attached sadly let it down.

Lovely food in a relaxed and pleasant setting. Good menu choices. Prompt service. Lovely friendly and welcoming bar man who provided table service.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. We booked so we could enjoy a Sunday roast whilst we are visiting York for the long weekend with our son. The food was exceptional and the service was amazing. Fantastic portions, loved the cauliflower cheese my fave. You all get your own side dish of veg, plus extra gravy. My son scored it 12/10 for the meal, wee took a breather between the desert, choclate brownie and ice cream. Washed down with a beautiful bottle of malbec and a couple pints of Guinness. We will definitely be back on our next trip to York. Faultless
