General Public is inspired by trying to imagine what an upscale English pub would be if it had the heart of an American brasserie (and was open 11 to 11). It’s also going to signal a little bit of steakhouse, but not too much. And finally, it will look behind itself at the Black Hoof, which you will see reflected in James Santon’s menu here and there. In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a completely different space that transports you to a peachy 80s dream.     My friends and I went here for the Sunday roast, and it was amazing. There was a generous portion of beef and it was cooked perfectly (tender and so tasty), and there was a great helping of gravy and veg to go along with it (but I'd have loved some more potatoes!). Great value for money for the food, though the drinks were a little on the pricier side. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the environment was lovely overall - would highly recommend!

    Another fabulous evening at our favourite neighbourhood spot! We paired the house old fashioned & Guinness with the sticky toffee pudding- absolutely divine. Hospitality from bartender Nick was 11/10.
