In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. Outstanding overall! Pros: Food was excellent (Yardbird was OMG, filet mignon sandwich was delish!), our server was great (don’t remember her name), and as an author, the ambiance was *chef’s kiss* fun! Cons: Wish it weren’t so loud, but it is what it is. And the wedge salad was meh - too much dressing and while it wasn’t bad, just didn’t love. But great restaurant and really great food!
