The Grape Variety is a neighbourhood, independent wine bar, shop and restaurant, selling great wines and food from around the world, located just 2 minutes from Chipstead Railway Station.We opened in the spring of 2018 with the aim that a wine bar should cater not just to experts, but to all, so we created one where our guests could unwind at the end of the day with a great wine in a warm, friendly and genuine environment, whilst getting sound advice about which wines to enjoy, as well as to take away.For food, we offer quality artisan cheese and charcuterie, alongside dishes such as baked Camembert, bakery sausage rolls, hot chorizo and potato, hummus with a spicy sauce, Spanish pâté and the like. Booked for dinner and had a very enjoyable experience. The curries were very flavoursome and had a good spice to them. These were complemented with delicious Onion Bhaji and Vege Samosas as starters. Additionally, the service was very attentive as the waiters welcomed us and ensured that dishes were cleared after we had finished. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone in Balham.

First time to visit this pleasant Thai restaurant. We had just recently returned from Thailand and we’re looking for some authentic Thai food. Raitakrai is the real deal. We were especially pleased to find that they had Chang beer which cannot be found locally. We both had the milder version of Pad Thai and it was delicious.

Great service friendly staff. We booked via an open table experience for my daughter's birthday. The king prawn puree was excellent. Portion sizes were good. We had chicken tikka, fish tikka, chicken shaslic, lamb biryani, butter and garlic nans, plain rice. Enjoyed the bengali beer as had not had it before. Definitely worth a visit.
