We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Feel the comforting rumble of trains passing overhead conjuring memories of some of our favourite haunts underneath the bridges in NYC - a place where, with the blinds rolled down and away from prying eyes, a decadent lunch can swiftly roll into dinner.

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). Wir waren zum Nachmittags Tee dort. Die Location ist super das Essen war klasse und der Service durch unsere Bedienung Freddy war erstklassig. Kommen gerne wieder.

Tolles Restaurant, aber sehr laut. Essen war gut, aber wir Hamburger haben schon besseres Sushi bekommen. Aber natürlich nur Jammern auf hohem Niveau. Preislich auch ein wenig höher. Soho Restaurant hat uns besser gefallen. Aber die ganze Anlage ist schon spektakulär. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.
