Really good food. The short rib, blondie and sticky toffee pudding was amazing! Staff are always friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend a visit.

Best restaurant in Maldon. Excellent food, lovely and clean and very attentive staff. Just the perfect amount of time between courses and never feel rushed. The 3 course deal on Sunday afternoon is amazing value and the kids loved their food too! Highly recommend this place!!

We have eaten here before but tonight they really outdid themselves. The service was prompt, polite and great. The food was tremendous - my partner had the Scallops and Pork Belly to start and the steak for main and both were great. I had the Venison to start and the Duck Breast for main and these were equally fantastic. Both desserts - the Tarte Tatin and Chocolate Torte - were also lovely. Great meal, one of the best we have ever had. We will definitely be back!

Lovely evening out again at this great restaurant. Tasty starters of short rib arancini and a shepherds pie - unusual starter but really works. Then treated ourselves to a chateaubriand to share for main course, which was prepared to our liking. Then finished with a nice selection of cheese and biscuits. A nice touch is that the front of house Harry remembered our drinks selection from a previous visit, however they also offered a chance to change to a different wine that they recommended. Service was not rushed but prompt when required and the venue was busy despite it being the evening before Valentine’s Day. This tells you a lot about the quality of a evening at The House by Hilly Gant.

We visited the Angel on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted on arrival by a very friendly waiter called Jack. We had the Sunday roast. I had the beef and my husband had the trio of meat roast. The food came quickly and tasted delicious. We then both had apple crumble with custard for dessert. All the food we had was lovely. Our waiter Jack was very attentive ensuring we were ok. We will definitely be back soon for another meal.
