Thomas Makris, der auf der Insel Skopelos geboren wurde, verliebte sich einst in Helen Babalos. Sie lernten sich während einer Nordamerika-Tournee mit griechischen Tänzen 1974 im griechischen Restaurant Orestes kennen. Schon bald nach ihrer Heirat hatten sie die Idee, in Vancouver ein einzigartiges Lokal zu eröffnen: ein griechisches Restaurant, in dem jeder Teil einer großen Familie ist, in dem jeder köstliche, hausgemachte, authentische Speisen bei aufmerksamem Service genießen kann. Sie eröffneten 1984 das Anatoli Souvlaki im Norden von Vancouver. Im Jahr 2011 übernahmen ihre Söhne Alexi und Iani das Restaurant. Diese verwirklichten Anfang 2015 den ursprünglichen Traum ihrer Eltern in einem neuen Projekt. Zusammen mit ihrem Cousin Daniel Bergman eröffneten Alexi und Iani das Restaurant „The Greek by Anatoli“ in Yaletown.     Always love a night out at Autostrada. Great ambiance, service is excellent & I love the wine list. I have never had a bad dish at Autostrada. The Caesar salad is my fave in the city.

    Great food quality and service. Definitely more of a casual place. The only issue I have is the wine seemed to be priced extremely high for the excellent value of the food. I had a cocktail instead which was excellent and priced appropriately.

    This is a great spot to meet for brunch on a rainy weekend. Lots of room inside and a cosy wood and brick ambiance. Six of us ordered off a brunch menu with lots of variety and pretty reasonable prices for a down town eatery. Free coffee refills and decent decaf too which was a treat. Our server brought everything promptly and gave everyone the right meal which was impressive. She also divided up the bill correctly at the end between 3 couples and took a good group phot of our family reunion, so that was service above and beyond. My smoked salmon toast was excellent and I substituted a salad for the potatoes, so that made a good healthy brunch. Would definitely return as you can reserve ahead.
