Das Max's Café wurde 1890 als Schuhgeschäft eröffnet. Im Jahr 1912 eröffnete es an der 34 Nord Burlington Street als Leisinger's Saloon für die nächsten 25 Jahre auch während des Alkoholverbots als "Soft-Drink Einrichtung". Im Jahr 1937 wurde das Leisinger's Saloon von der Familie weitergegeben und wurde zum Max's Cafe umbenannt. Dieser Name stand für die nächsten 65 Jahre. Im Jahr 1977 verwandelte eine neue, einfach zubereitete Speisekarte mit frischem Fisch und Meeresfrüchte das Max's Cafe in Max's Seafood Café. Das benachbarte Gebäude wurde erworben, um die wachsende Anzahl von Gästen von beiden Seiten des Delaware Rivers unterbringen zu können. Oft bilden sich bis um die Ecke Menschenschlangen, die darauf warten, frischen Flunder, Garnelen, Muscheln und vor allem gedünstete Muscheln zu genießen! Der gute Ruf des Max's wuchs in den nächsten 22 Jahren, bis es dann durch das Alter und der Vernachlässigung in einem schlechten Zustand war. Das Bar-Restaurant schloss im Juli 1998 und blieb für 2,5 Jahre inaktiv. Ende 2000 dann wurde das Max's Seafood Café renoviert und am 02. Juni 2001 wieder eröffnet, um seine Tradition der Gastfreundschaft fortzusetzen und die tadellos frischen Meeresfrüchte und heiß geliebten gedünsteten Muscheln anzubieten.
