Opening their first location in the spring of 1984, Helen Babalos & Thomas Makris brought us Anatoli Souvlaki. They had a dream of combining the food of Greece with great service to add some Mediterranean style to the North Vancouver restaurant selection. They opened in the sleepy neighbourhood of lower Lonsdale and lived above the restaurant to ensure the quality and service. They were able to create a North Vancouver staple, a successful thriving restaurant based on faithful patrons and a reputation that has been passed through generations.In 2011, the family-run restaurant was taken over by their sons Alexi and Iani. In 2015, the brothers, alongside their cousin Daniel Bergman, expanded on their parent’s dream by opening The Greek in Yaletown, with a focus on mezze-style dining. Now open in Gastown. The Greek is a reinterpretation of the North Shore's iconic Anatoli Souvlaki.

Thomas Makris, der auf der Insel Skopelos geboren wurde, verliebte sich einst in Helen Babalos. Schon bald nach ihrer Heirat hatten sie die Idee, in Vancouver ein einzigartiges Lokal zu eröffnen: ein griechisches Restaurant, in dem jeder Teil einer großen Familie ist, in dem jeder köstliche, hausgemachte, authentische Speisen bei aufmerksamem Service genießen kann. Sie eröffneten 1984 das Anatoli Souvlaki im Norden von Vancouver. Im Jahr 2011 übernahmen ihre Söhne Alexi und Iani das Restaurant. Diese verwirklichten Anfang 2015 den ursprünglichen Traum ihrer Eltern in einem neuen Projekt. Zusammen mit ihrem Cousin Daniel Bergman eröffneten Alexi und Iani das Restaurant „The Greek by Anatoli“ in Yaletown.     We always love to go to Nammos for great Greek-style food. It is a great room, stylish and loud but not overly. The service was a bit spotty but very courteous. Food was good as usual. We were a bit disappointed about the wine offerings - nothing we wanted off the menu was available so why not just bring us a list of what you actually have rather than bring something you we might like. We accepted a recommendation for our first bottle but didn't really go with the meal and then they didn't have a second bottle. Not really acceptable. However we gave a 5 because we love the place!

    What an amazing experience at Loula’s for my best friend’s birthday! We had a big group of 10 and our experience was excellent from before we even sat down. The wonderful Sierra worked some magic to fit our big table in and then the incredible Paige took phenomenal care of us all night! The food and drinks were top notch – I already can’t wait to go back. Thank you Loula’s!

    Exceptional food and wonderful choices of beverages. The staff was great with the kids and could recognize when to check in with parents about drink options. Our server was excellent at recognizing when we needed more time, when we needed help, and who to talk to in order to minimize disruptions or interruptions. The meats and seafood were prepared to perfect finishes. Portions suggested were reasonable and the overall bill was actually quite reasonable for a meal of this calibre.
