The newest addition to the Restaurant Collection at SIMON Roosevelt Field mall, Nomiya — which translates to ‘saloon’ — stands as the area’s first izakaya. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of minimalism, the interior of Nomiya is split between a hickory-accented bar and windowed dining room framed by black granite walls. Guests can pair their meal with one of the eleven premium bottles of sake listed on the menu, such as the unfiltered, cream-colored Yuki Tora Snow Tiger nigori or bright, effervescent Uka Junmai Daiginjo; or opt for a refreshing cocktail made with soju – the national drink of Korea which is commonly distilled from potato. Went there for lunch on Restaurant Week. All in my party picked sushi and enjoyed the rolls very much. Will definitely go back again and try the hot entrees.

The food was definitely tasty and large portions. Everything was hot and fresh, and the drinks were on point! I do think the ambiance and flashy style shown on social media is geared more towards the sushi items so i wish there was a bit more showmanship with the other meals. The servers weren’t very personable and rushed everything, with only a 2 minute gap between the appetizer and entree.. still great food!
