Ruta Oaxaca Mexican Cuisine opened in Astoria in 2021 with such a wonderful and successful home run that a second location opened in Patchogue in March 2022. Ruta Oaxaca means “Road to Oaxaca,” a historic state in the southern part of Mexico. Mr. Castillo and his Partners are keenly focused on honoring Oaxacan culinary traditions, whose fame is derived in great part from its many varieties of moles. By legend, these ancient recipes are more than sauces, they are the very focus of the meal. Ambiance, food and drinks were amazing but our server was very rushed kept trying to rush our meal. Wanted to enjoy nice Friday dinner after long week. He rarely checked on basics on how food was. Was focused more on clearing glasses and food.

Very nice, cool place. No vegan options though but my dining partner had some beautiful carrots with her meat dish. I don’t know how noise level gets graded in the first part of the survey but it was hard to hear and I had to lean across the table to hear my friend. And it wasn’t crowded at lunchtime.
