Between the central locale afforded by its gracious home in the landmark Lord Elgin Hotel, a warm and yet contemporary ambience, a locally sourced menu and a casual-to-sophisticated stocked cellar, Forty-One has become one of Ottawa’s top new restaurants.Named Forty-One in recognition of the year, 1941, that the Lord Elgin was built, the restaurant features a modern environment and classic menu that is a perfect match for connecting with new and familiar faces. Guests are able to relax in the inviting lounge with flat screen TVs and large windows overlooking Elgin Street or enjoy an intimate dinner or a group get together in the dining area. I made and later confirmed a reservation for tonight (Wednesday) at 5:00 p.m.at the Sparks Steet location as we were going to a concert at the NAC. When we arrived at 5:08 p.m. the check in desk had no resrvation made in my name (first or last) or for the reservation number I was given by Open Table, the online reservation system. Fortunately, two friends were seated so we sat down with them. Had the reservation been for a busier night we would have been turned away.

Superior hospitality, truly delicious food and inspired cocktails in a warm and cosy ambiance. Fantastic spot for a fun night out with friends. Staff all seem genuinely happy to work together and welcome you to their space.

Food was excellent! Shared the beet salad and salmon entree. Salmon was cooked perfectly! Would definitely recommend.
