Great evening celebrating a birthday, staff were all brilliant and food and atmosphere was amazing, thank you!

A great lunchtime venue. The food is good and the staff are lovely.

Loved the Cocktails, both the Espresso Martinis and non-alcoholic. The pre-starter, little scones with cream cheese were wonderful, never had these before wasn't sure what to expect. Lots of taste and just right portions. Starter scallops, prawns potatoe with sauce served in a shell delicious. Mains Chateaubriand and fillet steak very tender. Chateaubriand could have had more taste but was not chewy and the sides were delicious. Desserts we took home. 10 out of 10

We’ve recently moved to Maldon so are just trying local pubs & restaurants. We hadn’t noticed the wheatsheaf before but it had good reviews. What a great find friendly staff and excellent home cooked food which was good value. We will define back regularly

Lovely evening out again at this great restaurant. Tasty starters of short rib arancini and a shepherds pie - unusual starter but really works. Then treated ourselves to a chateaubriand to share for main course, which was prepared to our liking. Then finished with a nice selection of cheese and biscuits. A nice touch is that the front of house Harry remembered our drinks selection from a previous visit, however they also offered a chance to change to a different wine that they recommended. Service was not rushed but prompt when required and the venue was busy despite it being the evening before Valentine’s Day. This tells you a lot about the quality of a evening at The House by Hilly Gant.
