MUA is known for its open atmosphere, eclectic décor, art events and, of course, its delicious food. Ideal for large parties or intimate gatherings, the spacious dining room creates a relaxed, casual vibe for guests to enjoy their meals. A large selection of wines, cocktails and beers make MUA a great spot for an evening out with friends. Family owned and run Mua was one of the first restaurants to open in what was then Auto Row in Oakland, in 2008. After their first 2 restaurants, Pastoral in Berkeley (first opened in 1982 while still students, 37 in the architecture program at Cal and San-Ju painting at SFAI) then later Soizic (Jack London Square, 1996), they wanted to shift gears from heavily curated menus to more comfort-based fare catering more to the eclectic and artistic community in Oakland.     Always delicious as usual. This time we tried the chicken millenese and it was delicious along with the blackened catfish and several sides. DJ was playing good music. The bartenders and wait staff are always great, very helpful and very friendly. Would recommend anyone that wants to be out for a nice night on the town and dinner to go to Mua.

    The food to table experience was outstanding. Everyone commented how much they enjoyed the food. From the cabbage salad to the Hoppin john to the Fried Patole Sole/Fried Chicken all the food was well seasoned and prepared. We even received free chocolate chip cookies. Great music complemented the great food. I will definitely go back!

    Had an extraordinary dining experience with their 10-course meal with their fabulous wine pairing. I really appreciated the wines chosen so thoughtfully that enhanced and complimented the flavors of each dish and was happy to discover some wonderful international wines. Truly a once in a lifetime luxurious experience. Thank you Commis for making my 60th birthday celebration so memorable and special.
