Chef Wesley E. Choplin graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in 1997.Chef Wes, as he is fondly known in the industry, has been a sought after chef from his early years at world renowned Pinehurst Golf & Country Club. He quickly became popular for his "outside the box" mentality and later being recruited by many of North Carolina's best restaurants the last 25 years, ultimately becoming the renowned Chef that he is today. His passion for being a culinary artist is truly unmatched.With Anthony Bourdaine's mentorship at CIA, Chef Wes Choplin has surpassed and achieved many of his culinary goals and received awards for his talent and community service throughout North Carolina. Very nice cozy neighborhood restaurant. Have been there many times for special occasions or for date night. Have always gotten great service and food is amazing. Also have seen prices increase. But that is all restaurants. Treat yourself. Definitely worth it.

We had a party of seven adults, and the service was outstanding - friendly, attentive, patient, perfect timing. The halibut special was popular with our group and even the meatloaf was outstanding, as were desserts! Noise level seems better in the past, it wasn't a problem to hear our conversations from one end of the table to the other. Great night.

This is my third time eating here and I've enjoyed it every time. The food is great. Service was good, not necessarily great, but really good. The waitstaff seems to help each other out with clearing empty plates, which is nice. Will definitely be back.

The Port City is one of my new faves! I just love the Orange Julius and Lobster dumplings though only four at $5 each is bit much since I would love them as a meal!!!! The Chili Crusted Seared Tuna is amazing!!! Hope to make it a monthly stop.
