The Duke of Cleveland is situated on the Headland in Hartlepool, just a short distance from the coast and next to St Hilda's Church. It is a listed building and the oldest one still in use in the town. Our establishment is a restaurant and pub with an excellent reputation for serving traditional homemade British dishes. We take pride in sourcing produce from local businesses as much as possible and use these ingredients to create the best dishes for our patrons. Our signature dishes include Haddock in our special beer batter with hand-cut chips and the local speciality, the chicken parmesan. We believe in keeping things simple and making them well. On Sundays, we offer a traditional roast dinner with a choice of Roast Rib of Beef, Loin of Pork, Breast of Chicken or Lamb Shank.The Duke of Cleveland is the ideal venue for weddings and other special occasions or events. It has a choice of function rooms suited to your requirements. In the summer months, we open our cosy bear garden.

The Crathorne Arms is a great pub in a wonderful community spirited village, lovely people, Lord Crathorne himself couldn’t be more supportive, how lucky we are.Our life has come a full circle from a town pub in Middlesbrough (well Eugene has) to the tontine (McCoys Hotel, Restaurant and Bistro) to a village pub in Crathorne, Ten Minutes from Middlesbrough.We live above the pub, our furniture and furnishings live downstairs as they can’t and won’t fit up the stairs! So the canoe has the condiments, the bookcases our books, the huge sofa with big squashy cushions to sink into, tin lanterns reflecting patterns on the ceiling, this all makes for a homely feel and that’s what we would like to create along with good wholesome food and drink.Of Course the staff, front of house and kitchen are all great, hardworking, smiley, enthusiastic young people and a joy to work with.

Es diente als Refektorium für die Mönche und ist heute eines der ältesten, speziell für diesen Zweck errichteten, geschichtsträchtigen Restaurants in Großbritannien. Das Restaurant besitzt 72 Plätze und serviert Ihnen klassische, deftige britische Gerichte mit saisonalen Produkten von regionalen Bauernhöfen und Märkten sowie Weine von einer großen, preisgekrönten Karte. Außerdem stehen Ihnen ein Bankettsaal mit 50 Plätzen und ein Workshop-Bereich mit 12 Plätzen zur Verfügung. Hier finden verschiedene Kurse statt. Vor kurzem wurde das Blackfriars von den Lesern des Independent zum „Besten Sonntagslunch-Restaurant in Newcastle“ und von den Lesern des Observer und der Metro Newspaper zum „Besten Restaurant in North East/Newcastle“ gekürt. Recommended by a colleague and so pleased it was. Food was amazing, well presented and very very tasty. Portions were just right, excellent value for the quality of the food. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Immaculate a a brilliant performance. Really put your effort it when you knew I was coming. Chicken was a bit pink but always it. Never been poisoned though . Still tasted grand.
