Chinya was founded in 1880 as a restaurant in Asakusa, Tokyo. Since its opening, Chinya's sukiyaki has been dedicated to and explored, and is first served with meat covered with the aroma of Senju leek. Afterwards, the sukiyaki is enjoyed to its fullest in a slightly sweetened wariroshi sauce with "zakku", an ingredient we are particular about. The course offers an aperitif and appetisers that allow you to taste the four seasons, and we offer not only sukiyaki but also shabu-shabu courses.The restaurant's speciality, "suitable sashi meat" (trademark registered), refers to "moderately marbled meat" that is not excessively sashi. The fat of Wagyu female cattle fattened up to a sufficient age (30 months), with a grade 4 fat content and good fat melting, produces a 'Wagyu aroma' at the border between the sashi and the lean meat when heated.     We enjoyed our dinner. The chef is very particular about the serving temperatures of his food. It makes you realise that the difference in shari temperature does make the sushi taste different and better. There are also good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The lady staff who was working with the chef at the front was really easy and nice to talk to. Her station was in front of us and it was easy for us to ask her any questions

    What a great experience! I loved being introduced to tempura with such a wide range of ingredients. The chef was exacting and very enthusiastic about his craft, while also engaging casually and personally with guests. I don’t want to spoilt any surprises, but I found the experience to be deeply personal, a gift, and the chef made such a wonderful, memorable experience - the food, the other guests, the staff, the chefs.

    Our first ever A5 Wagyu beef teppanyaki meal. It was amazing !!! The beef is the star of the show here, and be prepared to shell out upwards of $300 per person for an extravagant 7 course meal. We chose the somewhat frugal entry level 5 course meal for $130 per person which was plenty of food already with a choice of an 80 gram filet or a 100 gram sirloin. The chef prepares all the food in front of you, and grills the meat 2 ways, on the steel top and on the charcoal grill. Great views of the Tokyo Done and surroundings through the panoramic windows in the background. An amazing overall experience. A reservation is a must as there are only about 10 seats at the counter.
