Eine wichtige Persönlichkeit der kontinentalen Armee, der militärische Kopf Friedrich von Steuben, soll die Taverne während der berüchtigten Winter 1777-1778 im Valley Forge zu einem Geheimversteck für Schwarzpulver für die Kuriere der kontinentalen Armee gewählt haben. Während dieser Zeit bot die Taverne den hungrigen und erschöpften Soldaten, die für ihre Unabhängigkeit kämpften, Nahrung und Obdach und heiterte ihre Stimmung auf. The original Vickers Tavern has been completely renovated, and the White Dog Cafe has preserved the building's history while adding chic farmhouse aesthetics and dog-themed decor. The restaurant features seven distinct dining rooms, each with its own unique personality and design. In addition, there is an expansive outdoor patio with a gas fireplace and retractable cover. The open Barn room includes a large oval bar, a sitting area by an open fireplace, and doors leading to the outdoor potting shed.
