Hook & Ladder is the unexpected steakhouse you’d never thought you’d find in the historic, original firehouse of the Washington Fire Company. This is a one-of-a-kind Skybar experience allowing guests a close view of our 149 year old firehouse, bell tower and original stained glass windows. A unique cross between a chop house and Crudo bar, Hook & Ladder features Certified A5 Japanese wagyu beef that will melt in your month. Dry aged Steak offerings including 32 days dry aged Porterhouse (28oz), 32 days aged Tomahawk Ribeye (40oz) that will taste decidedly beefy, much like a rare roast beef, while also taking on subtler hints of other delicious flavors. Crudo uses the Japanese technique of curing the fish making it more tender and flavorful. Finishing it with lime, lemon, and soy; featuring Wild King Salmon, Japanese Madai, Hamachi and more. Seit 1746 hat das Gebäude, in dem sich diese Taverne befindet, eine Rolle in der Gründung der Nation gespielt: zunächst als Raststätte für Postkutschenreisende auf ihrem Weg nach Westen und später als versteckter Treffpunkt für George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette und andere Führer der amerikanischen Revolution. Eine wichtige Persönlichkeit der kontinentalen Armee, der militärische Kopf Friedrich von Steuben, soll die Taverne während der berüchtigten Winter 1777-1778 im Valley Forge zu einem Geheimversteck für Schwarzpulver für die Kuriere der kontinentalen Armee gewählt haben. Während dieser Zeit bot die Taverne den hungrigen und erschöpften Soldaten, die für ihre Unabhängigkeit kämpften, Nahrung und Obdach und heiterte ihre Stimmung auf. Auch heute soll sich diese historische Tradition der Taverne fortsetzen und für gute Laune unter den Gästen sorgen. We love all the food here and there are so many unique options to choose from. We also love the old railroad station building it is in. It’s so unique and charming. It’s a little pricey but it’s good for special occasions.

We had a great time here. Come early and you might have the entire restaurant to yourself. The food was great. The staff were friendly and inviting. We weren’t celebrating our anniversary and they helped make it a very sweet moment.
