The seasonal menu blends influences from across the globe, with particular reference to Italian recipes, such as hand-rolled pastas.The meat at BAYTE is free-range and reared on biodynamic, organic Haye Farm in Devon. The Crown is an independently run award-winning freehouse in the heart of Hastings Old Town, open at 11am every day. Our kitchen is open 12-4, 5 till 9. The First In Last Out (FILO), is a family run free-house in the Old Town of Hastings. Alongside our award winning beer, we serve quality food prepared from scratch. Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team.The Good Food Guide 2023 describes us as 'A contender for one of the most charming eateries in Kent, it's pretty much impossible to resist the lure of this rural restaurant tucked away in a delightful walled garden...' It was a quiet Monday night so nice to find somewhere in Hastings open. Not too many people there but just enough for it to feel lively-ish. Staff were friendly and kind to our dog. Service very good. The food was delicious. There were 3 of us, 2 had the venison with trimmings, very flavoursome. The other had the ham and eggs which was also very good. Wine also nice.

Absolutely outstanding Sunday lunch. Probably the best we have ever had in a pub. Great staff. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Fabulous roast lamb and the vegetarian option on this day was a mushroom pie with all the roast trimmings. You know it's a good pie when each forkful has a mushroom on it!! Great cauliflower cheese. Plenty of gravy. We will be back.
