Our aim is to be the central hub of the community, The Axe and Compasses is a traditional British village pub dating back to 1628, serving a wide and varied selection of quality lagers, cask conditioned ales, fine wines, and premium spirits. A gem of a village pub serving pizzas, artisan burgers, pub classics with great pints and playgrounds. Set in the North Herts village of Weston. Acres of beer garden, kids play areas, families, muddy boots and dogs very welcome in our bar area. Our beautiful Pavilion restaurant is open for all day for reservations Mondays through to Sunday. Our normal pub garden benches will be available as usual on a walk-in basis for food from our outside kitchen! Our patio area is now available for bookings to guarantee your table outside, you can also order from our full restaurant menu!

I love this place! The ambient setting with happy customers, the friendly team who are so professional and the freshness of the food that is amply portioned and beautifully presented. Pricing is so reasonable for the quality and service. They are deservedly busy all year round - I highly recommend! Thank you Sword team!

We have just had our first visit to The Lytton Arms and we could not speak anymore highly of the experience. We had the roast and it was absolutely delicious. We were way too full for pudding but after seeing the menu we couldn’t resist, we’re so glad we did as the cheesecake and mousse were to die for. The pub had such a homely welcoming vibe and the staff were so attentive and polite. We had a lovely chat with the manager John and could see he puts his heart and soul into what he does and it pays off. We will 100% be recommending this pub and returning! Thank you!

Had Sunday lunch menu. Food and service was very good and chicken liver parfait was one of the best I’ve had. Restaurant wasn’t busy, so a bit lacking in ambience. Whilst I get the sharing idea, they are not serving tapas, so giving you a side plate for your main meal, which comprised of steak, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and plenty of vegetables, was really silly! Also I think their 48 hour cancellation policy is a bit harsh - most places are 24 hours. All that being said, I will definitely be going back, but will insist on a dinner plate next time!
