THE WOODSMAN IS A TRULY BRITISH RESTAURANTWe use the best British ingredients, all sourced as sustainably as possible.We love using Wild food, and harvest much of it ourselves. All the meat on our menus is “nose to tail” so the menu is ever changing, and we waste nothing. We even employ our own head ranger to keep the deer herds on the land we manage under control, and have our own deer larder in the Cotswolds where this amazing product is processed.Our fish comes from day boats in Cornwall.We work with the seasons, ensuring the very best truly local veg is with us the day after its picked. Managed to get a table at their very popular Xmas by candlelight event and had a delightful couple of hours. Had to go to the 5.30pm sitting, no others available, which was a bit early for us. Our table was booked for another couple at 7.30pm which we would have preferred. Food was very good. We shared a starter of pate which was unremarkable but the main courses of venison and pork were excellent, as were the desserts. We sat right by the log fire and the premises looked very pretty with lots of fairy lights and candles. Next year we will book earlier and get a later table. Recommended.

Enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon at The Holt, afternoon tea was lovely, nice atmosphere and decorated with Christmas tress and a lovely fire. Nice to have warm scones as some places do not do this, and nice sandwiches and cakes. We needed to do a last minute change with the sandwich's from their menu, and the were very obliging to do so.

All staff extremely happy, friendly and attentive. Felt that the food could have been a bit hotter. Must admit that the roast beef was quite tough.

We’ve been dining for 3 nights at the Holt hotel and every time it was delicious and the service 10 out 10, a bit expensive but everything is I guess these days. Highly recommend the restaurant and the hotel! 🥰
