As you walk into the Peacock you get the feeling of history, built in 1652, the hotel was originally used as a dower house for Haddon Hall. The link between the two survives today as Lord Edward Manners brought the hotel back into his estate in 2004, the hotel has many pieces of unique furniture and art work from the Estate. The Bar is another step back into the past with a copper topped bar and untouched surroundings, the extensive cocktail and drinks list can be enjoyed in the bar or lounge before dinner. Our restaurant team have been the proud bearers of three AA rosettes–the top ten percent in the country. We offer both an indulgent, fine dining menu & a more relaxed bar menu to suit most tastes or moods. We serve truly local ingredients including organically-reared beef & lamb from the Haddon Estate. Me and my sister in law enjoyed a lovely festive afternoon tea. The soup and sorbet was a nice touch, a little different to standard afternoon teas. The fruit scones were the best we've ever had! The Christmas music helped to make us feel festive and added to the loveliness. The staff were attentive and did a fab job.

Really warm cosy venue that also has accommodation available. Staff were obviously well versed on how to manage guests and the meals provided were exquisite. Great place for a few drinks and food just be remember you get what you pay for 😊

Our third visit having previously tried a breakfast and evening meal we opted for lunch. We had two battered fish sandwiches, ham hock and a Christmas Caesar sandwich all served with a side of fries. Everyone enjoyed their meal and I had the latter. My turkey was hot, tender and not dry, delicious. A nice proportion of Caesar salad to bread ratio on a lightly toasted roll with an accompanying side of crunchy fries. With 3 breakfast teas and an americano coffee the bill for four was a little over £58. Given the quality on offer I would advise booking as not surprisingly we only just got a table at 1pm. Highly recommend
