I'd known about this Third Avenue restaurant in San Mateo for years but only recently had the chance to try it after their move. The staff were friendly, the restaurant was clean, and I enjoyed the classic oldies music, which created a pleasant ambiance. However, the steak itself fell short of expectations. I ordered the cowboy steak, and at $67, I expected a higher quality cut. The steak was thinner than I'd prefer (I'd guess less than an inch thick), undercooked for my taste, and unfortunately, heavily over-peppered in the kitchen. The excessive pepper masked any natural flavor the steak might have had. Overall, I felt the price was too high for the quality of the steak. While I appreciated the friendly service and atmosphere, the subpar steak experience means I likely won't be returning. Everything at dinner last night was excellent. The spanikopita was the best both of us had ever tasted and our bucatini with a lobster tail was absolutely delicious. The service was attentive even on a busy Saturday night. My only criticism would be that we were not offered the option of a 2nd glass of wine until after our entree had been eaten. A small error overall. Will definitely be back.

Everything was delicious and we enjoyed it very much! Service was great too! The owner is very nice and personable. He checks in on each table to see how things are going. Highly recommend!

Amour Amour is the perfect cozy date night spot. We had a reservation for Valentine’s and the food and wine exceeded our expectations. The pork belly was excellent and we loved our wine choice (a Russian River Pinot, not sure of the name). Definitely try it out if you’re looking for an intimate date night that’s nice but not stuffy.

We were 5, 3 stayed on the table and 2 on the bar and my experience at the bar was awful, female in white shirt there asked us if we just walked in and just sat at the bar, but we were actually assisted by people at the front and seated us properly at the bar, and then it felt like we were asked if we could afford the red wine we were ordering as he has to tell us the price of Bordeaux per glass. Overall left a soar taste for me. My wife and son on tha table was great but at the bar was bad experience, not sure if I would be back there soon. Definitely not our first choice anymore.
