We are a modern restaurant housed in an automotive garage that dates back to the 1940s. During the pre-interstate period of America, people and families often traveled across storied highways such as Route 40, Lincoln Highway or Route 66, encountering regional foods and a variety of cultural influences along the way.In that spirit, our seasonal menu will be a ‘road trip’ that explores some of those mid-western, southern, south-western, and western dishes and techniques. Meat & Potatoes is a high end gastropub in downtown Pittsburgh. Its kitchen takes as its inspiration the idea of elevating comfort food to a gourmet level. Das Vallozzi's eröffnete vor über 50 Jahren, als Helen Vallozzi hausgemachte Pasta von Zuhause aus verkaufte. Helen eröffnete ein paar Jahre später ein Restaurant mit Speisen zum Mitnehmen in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, woraufhin sich ihre Popularität explosionsartig steigerte. 1977 verlegte Ernie Vallozzi das Lokal seiner Mutter nach Greensburg, wo es bis heute betrieben wird. 2012 dehnte Ernies Sohn Julian die Tradition in der Innenstadt von Pittsburgh aus.

The menu is quite limited, but possibly that is why what they serve is very good. The beet salad was exceptional, our entrees were quite good and the chocolate ganache was great. Wide selections of beer and wine. Service was great. Only suggestion - which is minor was both my husband and I had entrees with a sauce at the bottom of the chicken and salmon - both sauces were a little cold. Maybe it was plated before the meat and fish were done or maybe cool bowls??

This place is always lovely. It is quiet and intimate and the food is consistently very good. I love having a treasure like this in our neighborhood!
