Meat & Potatoes is a high end gastropub in downtown Pittsburgh. Its kitchen takes as its inspiration the idea of elevating comfort food to a gourmet level. Its chefs are inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients and its bar staff creates innovative cocktails and serves a range of wines by the glass and draught beers, as well. The menu at Meat & Potatoes is a new take on basic. There are classic appetizers like fried pickles, grilled bread and fried Brussels sprouts, as well as more innovative fare like fried pigs ear and buttermilk fried chicken liver. Meat & Potatoes mains include pot roast, salmon and lamb neck cassoulet.

Helen eröffnete ein paar Jahre später ein Restaurant mit Speisen zum Mitnehmen in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, woraufhin sich ihre Popularität explosionsartig steigerte. 1977 verlegte Ernie Vallozzi das Lokal seiner Mutter nach Greensburg, wo es bis heute betrieben wird. 2012 dehnte Ernies Sohn Julian die Tradition in der Innenstadt von Pittsburgh aus.

    I had a delicious Caesar Salad and French Onion Soup. A little too many croutons in the soup I would have enjoyed more broth but it was still good. The noise level made it difficult to hear across our table. I find this a problem in many restaurants.

    Our waiter David was excellent.Efficient and personable. Everyone loved their food. The portions were large. For the first time ever, my Veal Marsala… The flavor was excellent. The mushrooms were delicious. But the veal was tough. It’s never happened before. So I was a little disappointed, but everybody else’s meal was very good. The tiramisu dessert was enough for three people lol. And it was delicious. The beet salads with the poached pears were really, really really good. Great dining experience.
