In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. Had a wonderful dinner sitting at the bar this past Sunday night! Our bartender Darren was extremely attentive and courteous. The pork chop with red cabbage and the pot roast entrees were awesome. Enjoyed also the flourless chocolate desert. We will be back again!

Hard to say if the food or service was the best because they were both outstanding. So glad we ventured outside of our normal spots to try Haviland, we’ll definitely be back.

Grotto never disappoints. I find the food great; something for everyone. Cocktail choices very acceptable and reasonable priced. The pizza is the best of the best. Total bill I find very moderate for what we had. We had a small pizza as an appetizer and a shrimp main course and a main course pasta and three alcoholic drinks and one soft drink. A little noisy but a wonderful dinner
