It has been a passionate dream for Burma-born owners Kalvin and Poe to open a Burmese restaurant to be able to share their culinary culture. That dream came true in 2019 when Top Burmese opened as a virtual takeout only restaurant from a commissary kitchen in NW Portland. What a delightful surprise to find this little gem tucked inside an unassuming storefront in Downtown Beaverton. Inside are six charming tables, an attentive chef and staff, and a delicious and sometimes surprising tasting menu. From a perfectly seared scallop to a delicious vegetarian "meatball," the meal was excellent and the staff were so nice. The 70's playlist added the perfect vibe to a relaxed but special meal. Loved that they have a "half glass" wine pairing option. At the end, the eggnog semifreddo with a gingerbread wafer cookie was the best dessert I've had in a long time. The pairing with the Godfather cocktail was inspired. I can't believe this lovely spot wasn't on my radar sooner!

Theres’s a surprising depth of Burmese food in NYC. After having it in abundance in San Francisco I was pleasantly surprised to find a high quality Burmese restaurant in a Portland suburb on a random trip so I booked a team dinner here. The food was better the second time and I plan on coming back any time I’m in the area.
