The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect. Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag.     Hadn't been to Maggiano's in YEARS but wanted to go back for V Day. The first surprise was the 'new' decor that is about 2 years old. Didn't know they are no longer a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant. The interior feels like an upscale hotel. Not stuffy but refined and elegant. Comfortable, too. Our waiter, Jerome, was AMAZING! He was sensitive, attentive, fun to talk with, accomodating and more! We were going to go to a movie and we told Jerome that convo with him was BETTER than a movie!! Really! We got the V Day Special Lunch for Two. Alot of delicious fresh food. We took alot of doggy bags home. Seriously, two sous chefs came out to ask us how everything was. They are in transition and seem to really be intentional and proactive about upgrading their food and their service. Most heartedly recommend!
