Our inspiration is the Zeus Faber… John Dory, one of many local fish that can be fished sustainably and from our shores and although it has a wonderful Latin come Greek name it also has a very British name, John Dory. Faber is the Latin word for ‘Smith’ – Like a few other Latin occupational names (e.g. Agricola for farmer, Nauta for sailor). Smith being the most common name in English we decided it sits well with our name as we want to be accessible to all and give everyday people the opportunity to be part of our journey and own the business they work in.What sets us apart is our commitment to working with local fishmongers who run out to the coast each evening to collect day-boat fish and local ingredients. This means that everything on our menu is fresh, sustainably sourced, and supports the local economy.We believe in creating dishes that are not only delicious but also ethical and responsible.

Josef Sheekey betrieb ursprünglich einen Stand mit Meeresfrüchten. 1896 eröffnete er am St. Martin's Court eine Austernbar. Das Restaurant wurde 1998 in seinem früheren Glanz restauriert. The Bibendum Oyster Bar - a local stalwart - is steered masterfully under the direction of Lyon born 2 Michelin-starred chef Claude Bosi. Excellent service from Mark. A lively and friendly atmosphere. Plenty of room on our table in the bar area. Really good quality cheese and bacon burger and not overly expensive. Good reports from others for the flat iron steak and the sea bass. Great selection of beers and other drinks. A proper community pub with a prime spot on the river. Highly recommended.

Julian and his team looked after us and made my son feel really special on his birthday. The food was fabulous as usual which brought back wonderful memories of sunny South Africa. The only bad thing I could mention was that we all ate too much. Our friends that drove down from Birmingham said it was worth the trip. Thanks Kingston OB. We will be back.
