What do you do when you want something done properly – especially when you’re a long way from home and you simply can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? Well, the tried and tested answer, of course, is to do it yourself – and that is exactly what Giuseppe, founder of Sapore Vero did, when he created our first Pizzeria in Beckenham, South East London – now entering its 11th year of trade – and then opened a 2nd in nearby Hither Green in 2019. After moving to London (quite some years ago now!), Giuseppe quickly found himself becoming frustrated with a lack of truly authentic Italian pizza, “that I liked”, as he puts it, produced using the methods that he grew up with, like generations before him, in his native Calabria, Southern Italy.

Fatto a Mano serves authentic Neapolitan pizza, sides and more. We use fresh ingredients in a warm, friendly environment. Our dough is made fresh daily and proved slowly, meaning we’re able to use minimal quantities of yeast and our pizzas are light. Our commitment is to quality, we use carefully selected Italian and local British ingredients from a handful of small, independent suppliers to top our pizzas.We use independent producers as long term partners, including Fior Di Latte Mozzarella sourced from Caserta, and wines imported directly from private Italian growers. The pizzeria menu features classics such as margherita, salsiccia e friarielli, and diavola, whilst also featuring modern additions including lasagna pizza, homemade arancini, our own vegan ‘nduja pizza and scugnizielli dessert.Our Neapolitan pizzeria is in the middle of Covent Garden’s buzzy theatre-district. "A unique and beautiful pizzeria in one of the hidden gems of South London; Venn St"We opened our pizzeria in Clapham a few years ago with a simple mission; serve great food in a beautiful space, like with all of the Berberè sites. Now, a few years later we have lovely local following that come in droves, especially at the weekend.Although open all year round, from springtime onwards you can sit outside on the terrace with a negroni, glass of prosecco or a craft beer and transport yourself to Italy, surrounded by festoon lights and olive trees. Inside, you'll find two beautiful rooms with an open kitchen that spreads across the two sides. If you're lucky and book enough in advance, you could hire the side room for a private booking (up to 40 people). We've had people celebrate birthdays galore, wedding parties, end of exam parties to name a few - you name the occasion and we'll sort the party.

The ambience, the care from staff, and the overall experience was warming and outstanding. The staff are attentive and extraordinary, Sapore Vero is definitely a must-go in the Hither Green area! So much love in this place, grazie per una notte incredibile!

The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was really flavoursome, plenty of options and big portions, (I had the seafood risotto, surprisingly plenty of seafood). We ordered a cocktail which was not to our liking and the staff kindly let us change to an alternate, removing the others off the bill. I’d definitely come again!
