Wir servieren Ihnen preisgünstige, mit Leidenschaft gekochte Mahlzeiten! Besuchen Sie uns und probieren Sie einen unserer Klassiker, wie beispielsweise unseren Red Stripe Grilled Cheese, bei dem Ihnen das Wasser im Munde zusammenläuft und der mit Prosciutto, pochierter Birne und Basilikum zubereitet wird. A favorite of Julia Child - Pot au Feu Bistro is so much more than a restaurant... Established in 1972, our cozy Bistro is the oldest French Bistro in America. Pot au Feu Bistro kicked off the Providence Restaurant Renaissance being the first to offer something other than “steak, spaghetti and chow mien”.Located in the Historic Downtown we are just minutes from all the hotels and convention center.

Le Central is a French bistro, focusing on modern interpretations of classic dishes featuring local products from Sakonnet Lobsters, Four Town Farm (Seekonk, MA), Walker's Farm (Barrington, RI), Scott the Bassman, and Little Rhody Eggs (Foster, RI). Low lighting, checkerboard floor tiling, glass tabletops, and French nu-Jazz provide an intimate yet warm and familiar atmosphere. Chef-owner Jesse James spent his early career in Boston, working with chefs Moncef Meddeb at L'Espalier and Jasper White at Jasper's, with further experience at other landmark restaurants in New York, France, and Italy. Le Central is the third restaurant he has designed, built, and operated, after Aperto (Est 1992) and Boca Rotis (Est 1997), both in San Francisco. The large painting by Inez Storer on the south wall of the restaurant (which also serves as our logo) is of Jesse's son, Sam (the current General Manager & Beverage Director), and his childhood dog, Skye. Inez wouldn't say who the guy in the chair is.

    As always, another amazing evening at Pot au Feu! I have season tickets to PPAC on Sunday evenings but made a switch because my friend has been craving their duck breast confit. I had to steal a taste, and it was heavenly! I have been attempting to work my way through the menu and last night selected the steak frites which was cooked to perfection. Dinner begins with crusty French bread and a crock of soft butter and the most delicious of salads with your choice of two homemade dressings. Ordinarily, we save room for dessert, but since we wanted to savor every last bite of dinner, we didn't leave room. That only means our return trip will have to be very soon! As for service and ambiance, if you have not had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant, you will see how a guest is made to feel as though you're at home. Cozy and comfortable with little candles on each table, even though it was crowded and every table occupied, you feel as though you're in your own little secluded world. Bob Burke is the consummate host, making certain every patron is attended to and entirely satisfied. On this particular evening, our server, whose name escapes me, was delightful. Attentive yet not overbearing. It was a pleasure to see Hillary a long-time staff member whose two children Caleb and Katerina are now "bussers" and learning the intricacies of fine dining with a comfortable and casual flair. It was the perfect evening! Looking forward to my next visit at the Pot au Feu!

    Bistro du Midi is a wonderfully intimate restaurant with phenomenal food, drinks, and staff. We arrived on time for our reservation and were notified they were running behind but that they would collect us if we sat at the bar. The bartender was kind and attentive and as time passed, we were gently invited back to be seated and allowed time to finish our drinks. We ordered the Valentine’s Day menu, a choice selection through 5 courses. All of the options were phenomenal, we started with a small soup (tea cup sized) which we had anticipated for a larger tasting menu, but by course 3 we were hitting the wall! Portions were outstanding just small enough to be able to finish the next dish but large enough to feel very full by the end! We also ordered the cocktails oui chef, a lemon flavored cocktail and (please forgive me I forgot the name) a smoky combination of mezcal and cognac. Both of which were outstanding! Overall, we felt very satisfied! Being a big event for us we felt that the splurge was worth it, however, candidly it was a *very* large splurge so be prepared!

    There’s such a variety of high quality food on the menu. There’s something for everyone on both the food and drink menu. And at a time when shrinkflation is everywhere, Red Stripe over delivers. I think this might be our new fav dinner date spot.

    First time here. Food was pretty good. Definitely an older style facility. We were sat next to a window which was nice but a little drafty.
