Michelin-recommended since 2022.We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great cheeseburger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s a bistro-meets-diner-meets-internationally-inspired menu which is also representative of the diverse culture in Toronto. Our service team is upbeat and genuine but also deeply knowledgeable about the menu and offerings. Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees. We wanted to grab a quick bite and a few drinks before seeing “Moulin Rouge” at Mirvish’s. While ambiance was excellent and exactly why we made a reso, service was horrible - we had to ask for wine twice and they forgot about our main order, we literally had to stuff ourselves with it and run across the street to the theatre as we were running out of time. Yes, it was busy, but come on! It doesn’t take 20 minutes to pour a glass of wine!

We had a wonderful meal here after the opera. I had the Icelandic cod and my husband had the braised lamb. Both were excellent. The Hollandaise sauce with mine was light and delicious. The accompanying vegetables with both dishes were not overdone. Even the olive bread was hot and delicious. Don’t know why this great place was not full on a Saturday night. Great value for reasonable price!
