We r local & support local.. our young bartender was much more engaged with the locals beside us to give us any info on the new menu.. we asked for Brut champagne .. he poured Prosecco .. not the same .. we asked he said oh we r out.. ok bit don’t assume the substitution .. poor service on his part… among other things .. we will although continue to support

Lunch at City Grocery is always a hit! Allll of the appetizers sounded good so we might have ordered all three… I will say the phyllo/mushroom one was not my fave. It was cold and I expected warm. It was almost sweet? Anyway the other two were awesome. And my Ceasar salad with blackened shrimp was really good too. They always have the best music playing at the perfect volume. The service was just right too. Love some CG!

Very disappointed with Pork Belly dish, full of fat and overwhelmed with soy! Hard to taste anything but soy. Grain base also not good, swimming in soy. Suggest an alternate selection.

The issue was they were out of 2 of the 8 entrees on the menu and then after ordering told us they were out of the one special. Very disappointing to not be able to order 1/3 of the menu.

The City Grocery is always a go to when we are in Oxford. We always enjoy the food, wait staff/bartenders always are on point. Food is always excellent. Having said that, we had reservations for NYE. It was a 5 course meal with a wine pairing. No wait for our table, service was excellent, very polite and entertaining. First course was Murder Oysters, outstanding. Highly recommend if you enjoy oysters. Second course was crab bisque- very salty. We didn’t do more than 2 bites. Third course was a wedge salad, hard to mess this up, but they found a way to somehow put a tiny bit of dressing on the bottom. Again, was not worth eating. For the entree- bone in filet??? Cooked perfectly but the seasoning or rather the marinade was just okay, very basic, flavor boring. For the dessert, who knows, it came out “wiggling” some kind of a pudding??? with two cookies??? Did not even try. Will not review the wine pairing as everyone has a different palate. Please note for those wanting a wonderful dining experience and food - the City Grocery won’t disappoint. This review was only for the special event. Hopefully the next event will be up to the normal standard of the Grocery.

It had been a while since my wife and I had been to City Grocery. It was just as amazing as it always has been. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We've got to go more often when we are back in Oxford!

The holiday spirit was definitely there today🎄even thought they were extremely busy everything went along nicely. The old fashion was so good…one thing I would have liked better was the squash sliced Brussels sprout salad said it has goat cheese as an ingredient, however it was in the sesame cracker that was served with it. About misleading and I would have enjoyed it on the salad… otherwise it was all good

There were four of us instead of six. The manager received my text with the updated headcount and responded promptly. We were seated at a four-top and were able to easily chat with each other. My salmon was exceptional. One of my guests chose the shaved Brussels sprouts salad, and the other two ordered the crawfish sandwich. Both of the gals with the crawfish were not impressed. It was dry and overdone. I think they expected a smaller crawfish cake similar to a crabcake. I don't believe we would order this dish a second time. I would order the salmon again. It was cooked perfectly, and the flavorful sauce and side vegetables were fresh and tasty.
