Cafe Cariccio, the region's only authentic Tuscan restaurant, has been a favorite dining destination in Albany for 30 years. The Cafe was voted Best Restaurant in the Capital District by Metroland Magazine for 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, and many times previously. Jim Rua and Franco Rua are proprietors.     Catering is available for small or large parties for pick up or for on premise events. Our menu is filled with our classics from our kitchen as well as the elaborate authentic Italian dishes that we serve at our Chef's Table.

Our Chef's Table, located on the second floor above the main restauant, can hold parties of 10-17 and is an intimate open kitchen concept room where the chef cooks in front of your guests. Our rooms regularly host business events and speaker presentations as well as family event, birthdays, anniversaries as well as couples dinners with friends.

    Cafe Capriccio cannot be beat. The ambiance, especially in the bar with the lovely band, is welcoming and relaxing. The food is always exceptional served by friendly, knowledgeable, efficient staff. Fabulous always!

    Always the same delicious food!! Have been going there for 20+ years- that’s how consistent the food and service is. Menu always changing and Jen has that magic touch and always a joy to see.

    I loved that they put a candle in my daughter’s dessert for her birthday . Food and customer service was great

    Had a delicious meal; 4 of us each had appetizers and mains, plus 5 glasses of ordinary wine and a couple of sodas. One dish had a pasta side instead of potatoes. None of us had steak or other higher priced entrees. The service and ambience were fine, and it felt like a down-home Italian joint. What surprised us what that this fairly modest fare totaled up to nearly $300, and well over this when we added a reasonable gratuity. So, the experience was generally very good apart from the price

    Café Capriccio is the best restaurant in Albany. A little bit of Europe in a cozy, romantic setting. Grab a booth at the bar on a Friday night and listen as the fabulous jazz quartet transports you to another time. The food is wonderful as well. Fabuloso!

    Love this restaurant and look forward to Albany visits. Quiet Tuesday night. Service always good. Great old school (warm wood) atmosphere. Food wasn’t up to usual standard. Maybe an off night. Artichoke app was just ok. My Shrimp with pasta. The dish wasn’t that warm. The pasta was heavy. It used to be a light pasta to go with the shrimp. Shrimp was just ok. It was just ok. And not inexpensive. My friend had the ravioli special and enjoyed it. Lemon cake dessert and coffee were good. Will be back.

    I went with my son and daughter-in-law to celebrate their anniversary and we brought their six-year-old who is my grandson. At first I was hesitant about bringing someone that age, but he behaves perfectly and the staff was so gracious to us. We have celebrated many occasions at Cafe Capriccio and will continue to do so.

    Another great meal with great service! Not many restaurants last 40 years, come see why the Rua family’s Cafe Capriccio has! High quality ingredients treated delicately allowing taste to be center stage. No gimmicks, just great food and service.

    As expected, the food and table service were great at Cafe Capriccio. I've always had enjoyable experiences when I dine there. However, this past weekend, I did not enjoy being rushed out of the restaurant by someone who was not our server. For full disclosure, my party was 10 minutes late for our reservation, which should not be a big deal nor should it be justification for why we were rushed out. In total my party dined for less than 2 hours. We shared a pretty substantial meal and provided a generous gratuity. While I was in the restroom, literally getting ready to leave, my party was told that our table was needed. I believe I was also told by a manager while I was in line for the restroom that there was another restroom upstairs that I should use. I understand the pressure that the restaurant industry is under to manage operations which can get chaotic, especially for nicer restaurants but this experience left a gnarly taste in my mouth. When you go to a nice restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter, you should be treated with respect and not be rushed out of a meal you're paying for.
