Cafe Cariccio, the region's only authentic Tuscan restaurant, has been a favorite dining destination in Albany for 30 years. The Cafe was voted Best Restaurant in the Capital District by Metroland Magazine for 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, and many times previously. Jim Rua and Franco Rua are proprietors.     Catering is available for small or large parties for pick up or for on premise events. Our menu is filled with our classics from our kitchen as well as the elaborate authentic Italian dishes that we serve at our Chef's Table.

Our Chef's Table, located on the second floor above the main restauant, can hold parties of 10-17 and is an intimate open kitchen concept room where the chef cooks in front of your guests. Our rooms regularly host business events and speaker presentations as well as family event, birthdays, anniversaries as well as couples dinners with friends.

    I went with my son and daughter-in-law to celebrate their anniversary and we brought their six-year-old who is my grandson. At first I was hesitant about bringing someone that age, but he behaves perfectly and the staff was so gracious to us. We have celebrated many occasions at Cafe Capriccio and will continue to do so.

    Another great meal with great service! Not many restaurants last 40 years, come see why the Rua family’s Cafe Capriccio has! High quality ingredients treated delicately allowing taste to be center stage. No gimmicks, just great food and service.

    As expected, the food and table service were great at Cafe Capriccio. I've always had enjoyable experiences when I dine there. However, this past weekend, I did not enjoy being rushed out of the restaurant by someone who was not our server. For full disclosure, my party was 10 minutes late for our reservation, which should not be a big deal nor should it be justification for why we were rushed out. In total my party dined for less than 2 hours. We shared a pretty substantial meal and provided a generous gratuity. While I was in the restroom, literally getting ready to leave, my party was told that our table was needed. I believe I was also told by a manager while I was in line for the restroom that there was another restroom upstairs that I should use. I understand the pressure that the restaurant industry is under to manage operations which can get chaotic, especially for nicer restaurants but this experience left a gnarly taste in my mouth. When you go to a nice restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter, you should be treated with respect and not be rushed out of a meal you're paying for.

    Night before New Year’s Eve so very busy and noisier than usual, but I guess that’s to be expected. Service less than ideal. Forgotten drink orders, only one type of pasta available (tagliatelle), and two desserts unavailable. Lukewarm coffee and told decaf not available. Flank steak reportedly good, but shrimp pasta nearly tasteless, described as having “jumbo” shrimp and toasted breadcrumbs. Pasta swimming in lemon water. No toasted breadcrumbs and very small shrimp. Very disappointed as I’ve always thought of this as one of my favorite restaurants.

    My wife and I went there for my 55 birthday. The service is excellent and the food is very good. It is expensive, but is worth the experience. We don't go out for dinner often, so this was a treat for us. This was the second time coming here and we will do so in the future. This is our special occasion from now on.

    Restaurant and staff were excellent. They did a great job accommodating our larger party. Many items were not available. The steaks were very tough but everything else was fantastic. We will be going back to try some of the offerings that were not in stock last night. Looking forward to returning.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. Even the tiramisu was wonderful— a top notch dining experience. We will definitely return.
