Laufkundschaft ist im Blue Door Kitchen & Garden, dem Restaurant des gefeierten Küchenchefs Art Smith, herzlich willkommen. In dieser Oase an Chicagos Goldküste kommen die Köstlichkeiten direkt vom Bauernhof auf den Tisch und man hat sich ganz der Philosophie einer saisonalen Speisekarte verschrieben. Seit seiner Gründung ist das Blue Door zu einem Synonym für Nachhaltigkeit und verantwortungsvolle Beschaffung geworden. Das Restaurant präsentiert Gerichte aus dem Erbe der amerikanischen Kochkunst, zubereitet aus frischen, saisonalen Zutaten von Bauernhöfen aus dem mittleren Westen, darunter auch die Namensvetterin Blue Door Farm aus Indiana, die früher Oprah Winfrey gehörte. Braised beef was outstanding and the fried chicken was good, lightly fried. Fairly empty upstairs for a Saturday night 7pm reservation the day after Valentine’s Day.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Me & my wife visited Blue Door on her birthday, and decided to come back on the V-Day. This place is amazing: the quality of food, overall atmosphere and hospitality - it feels like every details there is made to make you feel like home. We ordered a couple of drinks (Smoked Cherry was a top notch), appetisers and mains (Lamb, salmon) - everything was cooked to perfection. Special thanks to our waitress for outstanding service (If you are reading this - you did a great job!), the cooks & to John for complimentary champagne and being so nice :) You, guys, do an amazing job. We will for sure be back! Overall: 5/5

The heated outdoor patio was awesome for February in Chicago. Service was on the slow end, but the staff was incredibly friendly.

Our party of three was able to try each of the entrées on the restaurant week menu, and every single one was delicious. (We also loved the shrimp and grits that we got for the table.) My MIL, notorious for finding something to complain about, loved everything and enjoyed the evening thoroughly.

Two, the service is great and the staff are professional and friendly. They make sure you always have everything you need but they aren’t bothersome. Three, the food is always delicious. All three of us ordered from the Restaurant Week Special Lunch Menu and all the food was great and met every expectation, the presentation was was lovely and because of Restaurant Week the price was a real deal. I eat there often but not often enough. It’s the perfect place to go for dinner before attending Porchlight Music Theater or any performance at The Ruth Page Theater just down the street. Also, their garden offers perfect alfresco dining. It’s one of those perfect little gems in Chicago.
